Biography

I was born and raised in the small town of Claremore, Oklahoma.  This quaint little town in the north east corner of the state allowed me the opportunity to grow up learning the importance of strong moral and family values. I graduated with honors from Sequoyah High School.  During those years I worked as the executive producer, writer, and host for a local weekly radio talk show that highlighted athletics and other events for the local area schools.

After graduation, I enlisted into the United States Air Force and served our nation proudly.  I first attempted to serve my enlistment in the Armed Forces Radio and Television Services (AFRTS); however there were no openings at the time.  As such, I entered into the munitions career field achieving the rank of Sergeant and was assigned to Special Operations Command.  I was deployed to Operation Desert Storm, N.A.T.O. Bosnia Support Operations, and many other special support operations around the world.  My journeys took me to 32 states and 16 countries from all points of the globe.

I separated from the United States Air Force as a decorated combat veteran with numerous medals including the Air Force Good Conduct Metal with three oak leaf clusters, Armed Forces Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, as well as several plaques and certificates of recognition.  My 10 years of military service instilled a strong sense of dedication, and a strong work ethic into my character, as well as the ability to adjust to unexpected situations when they arise, even under pressure.  As a United States Air Force Veteran, I am very proud of my military service and that of my many family members who have served.  I am a very patriotic individual, and continue my dedication to serving our nation in any capacity possible.

After my decade of military service I returned home to Oklahoma to pursue my previous career aspirations in broadcast journalism.  I attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma where I majored in Broadcast Journalism.  After attending the University of Oklahoma, my radio career eventually transitioned into television broadcasting.  This change in media gave me a whole new aspect of broadcast journalism which has allowed me to gain extensive knowledge of video editing software, master control operations, camera equipment & lighting operations, and many other aspects of broadcasting television events.  My experience has afforded me the opportunity to work within one of the top 5 markets in the nation & in 2010 I was honored as the Director of the Emmy Award winning newscast for Best Local Newscast.

Outside of my professional career, I have several hobbies and passions that keep me occupied.  I enjoy writing poems and short stories.  I have published several of my poems and 2 short stories.  I like making things with my hands using all types of mediums from woods and metals to parachute cords.  I am currently tracing my family genealogy.  In doing so, I have confirmed direct descendants from military veterans dating back to the civil war with indications of some reaching to pre-revolutionary times.  I have managed to trace both sides of my lineage back more nearly nine hundred years to England, Scotland and Ireland.  I have found that I am a direct descendant of both St. Thomas More, KG, Lord Chancellor of England, who was be beheaded by King Henry VIII, and Robert The Bruce, first King of Scotland.  I am also a huge history buff with an interest in politics and public service.  I currently am a Member of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas Environmental Action Committee and a Commissioner on the Fayetteville Housing Authority Board of Commissioners.

I am an outgoing individual, a great team player, and someone on which you can rely.  I am a very quick learner with new operating systems and programs, computers, office equipment, etc.  I have a strong sense of morals, values, & work ethic that has been instilled by a loving family, and sharpened by my military service.
